The practice actively supports the training of General Practitioners. Dr Avijit Biswas, Dr Joseph Webster, Zain-Ul-Abideen Yusuf, Dr Claire Phipps-Jones and Dr Colin Speers are appointed GP trainers. GP registrars are qualified doctors who, as part of their training, spend six months in a practice before joining a practice on a more permanant basis. The work of GP registrars is closely monitored by the Yorkshire Post-Graduate Centre. Your consultation with a registrar will be just like any other appointment, but on the odd occassion you might attend a joint surgery with a registrar and one of the practice’s own GPs or you might to be asked to agree to the consultation being videoed. If you do not agree to this, then you do not have to have your consultation videoed. The video will only be looked at by the doctors and will be erased a short time after the consultation.
We also support the education of medical students who spend two weeks at the practice. Student GPs attend GP and nurse clinics, but have no clinical responsibility. This will be explained to you by your GP or nurse, should you attend one of these clinics.
